Being in good physical shape is good for so many different aspects of your life. While most people have good intentions when it comes to getting into shape, many people lack the knowledge of knowing how to get started on a good fitness plan. One of the first things you need to do when deciding you want to get into shape is develop a workout plan. There are two parts to any effective workout plan and strength training is one of them. You could also choose equipment to help you with strength training. There are many options here as well, when it comes to using equipment. The other component to an effective workout plan is cardiovascular exercise. Cardio works your heart, and many other parts of your body. It gets your heart rate up and keeps it there. When it comes to cardio, there are many options here, as well. You can go outside and take a walk or a run. You could dance along to your favorite song or go out with friends and dance. There are also many different pieces of equipment you can use for cardio exercise. You can use a treadmill, stationary bike, stair climber or elliptical machine. Your gym may also have different classes you can choose from. Choose something that you enjoy, otherwise you probably won't stick with it long.

What you eat is very important to your fitness, and to your overall health. Watch what you eat and you will see that your workout routine will be more effective, and you will feel much better. Some healthy foods you should include in your diet are fruits, vegetables, lean meats and whole grains. You should avoid food that is fatty, fried, processed or made with heavy creams or sauces.

Continue on your fitness path, no matter what. Do not give excuses as to why you can not work out or eat right. There is no reason anyone can not live a healthy life, full of healthy food and exercise. When you feel like quitting, or skipping a workout, think about how good you feel when you finish a workout, and how good you will feel by keeping exercise a consistent part of your life.
