Take Along Exercise Clothing to Work

from: DietFitnessCenter.com

Any attempt at losing weight needs to include an exercise regimen, but do not be discouraged if your lifestyle doesn't seem conducive to rigorous workouts or joining an exercise facility. It can often be the small things that make all the difference, such as having flexible clothing on hand when you go to work every day. Exercising on breaks, or even just walking from your car and up a flight of stairs can be made much easier with a simple change of clothes or shoes.

Have a dedicated bag with you that you grab when you walk out of the door every morning. Inside, you can keep various articles of clothing that will encourage active movement. If you must wear formal clothing to work every day, there is no reason why you cannot switch easily to items that you bring with you. Start out the day wearing comfortable shoes, to encourage things like walking around the block before you enter your work building, and walking up a flight of stairs instead of taking the elevator. Your bag should be one that is over-sized to accommodate everything you will need for comfort and agility in short periods of free time throughout the day. Do not fill that bag without anything else that will make it cumbersome or too heavy to throw over your shoulder as you leave the door. Don't use it for work-related items or anything else that will take away it's purpose of helping you stay active. The smallest number of calories burned within those eight hours you are at work will add up more quickly than you realize. It will also clear your mind and help you to stay more focused on the work at hand.

Inside your bag, keep a pair of athletic shoes and socks that are easy to slip in and out of at a moment's notice. Offer to do small chores around the workplace that will keep you active, and take that extra minute to get comfortable first. If there is an errand that needs doing offsite, offer to do that as well. You can likely take an extra five minutes while you are out to walk a block or two.

On your official breaks, including lunch time, plan a specific activity. Have a pair of sweat pants and a comfortable t-shirt ready in your bag. If it is appropriate, go for a jog before eating your lunch. This will burn some calories and help you stay fit, as well as decrease your appetite for heavy, calorie-laden foods. If jogging is not possible, then walk briskly for at least a few minutes. If there is somewhere close by that offers racquetball or tennis or any similar activity, take a coworker with you for a quick game. Even if you only have 20 minutes, that is better than none. If all you can manage to do is just stretch during your breaks, then you will at least have the clothing you need to do it discreetly and with ease.

Equipping yourself for success is sometimes as simple as grabbing that bag of comfortable clothes and eliminating that small roadblock to an active lifestyle. You will likely encourage others at your workplace to do the same thing, creating a healthier and more stress-free environment for everyone.
