Weight Loss Done Right
from: DietFitnessCenter.comWeight-loss can be a daunting task. With the vast array of diets, pills, medical professionals, gyms and other resources available nowadays it can seem like an immensely confusing road to walk down. However, regardless of the exact route you decide to take toward your weight-loss goal, it is of paramount importance that you go about it in the most responsible, mature way possible.
First, before actually engaging in any sort of lifestyle changes, write down a series of weight-loss goals. Do not simply write the end goal or a vague sense of how much weight you should lose. Write down several increments of weight-loss that you can achieve and associate them with specific dates. Make these increments achievable--in other words, underestimate what you are able to do. If you start out accomplishing your goals then you will give yourself positive reinforcement to continue with your weight-loss program.
Every sustainable weight-loss routine should incorporate exercise. Determine the length of time you can dedicate per day and make a weekly schedule for the types of exercises you will pursue. With concrete plans like these you will falter less than if you simply tried to "fit in" exercise into your life whenever you could.
If one or two weeks you find yourself faltering from your pre-made schedule, do not despair! Remember that you are just starting out on your journey of redefining your weight and no one is perfect. Do not give up and do not be too hard on yourself.
Insofar as your diet, do not, no matter what, go to extremes. Just like implementing your weight-loss goal in smaller increments, make a schedule where you gradually introduce a different, healthier diet into your life. If you are currently eating a slice of pizza every day, cut that down to a slice of pizza every other day for a week, then every third day and so on. This will help your diet become a permanent part of your life easier and without as much anguish.
Many times people starting out on weight-loss routines find themselves at a loss for how much to eat. Do some research by going to the doctor, reading nutrition-related articles and reading weight-loss books. You don't have to eat only a sliver of meat each meal or a tenth of a piece of bread. You might be able to enjoy a full steak for dinner and a few slices of toast in the morning as long as you do it responsibly!
For each meal you eat, make sure there is a diversity of color on your plate. This generally guarantees that you are supplying yourself with a nutritionally balanced diet full of vegetables. For example, if you eat some broccoli and carrot with a chicken breast for dinner, make sure the plate isn't dominated by the whiteness of the chicken breast. You want an equal amount of green from the broccoli and orange from the carrot shining up at you as you dig in.
Even if you are a busy individual who is always on the go, you still need to ensure that you aren't skipping breakfast. Your metabolism gets a kickstart if you eat something in the morning and this will help you lose weight as you go about your day.
Using the above advice you can go forward confidently on your journey to weight-loss. Be gentle with yourself but stay focused, and remember to reward yourself with a pat on the back and a big smile each time you accomplish one of your goals!
