Another way is prepare your healthy meals well in advance and freeze them, so that you will never need to turn to unhealthy alternatives even when you do not have time to cook.

Develop an exercise routine that is suitable to your interests and physical level. Do not overdo it because straining your body will only cause you physical discomfort, which may lead you to get discouraged about exercising. Make your exercises fun so that you will look forward to them.

Once you have developed your diet and fitness plan, commit to it. Your commitment is very important to your success. Write it down and post it in a place where you will see it everyday to remind yourself of your commitment.

When you see that you are on the right track, it can motivate you to continue. There will be times when you will eat out with family or friends during special occasions, holidays and vacations. Even though you may be eating away from home, there are always healthy choices to make at restaurants. Get your salad with dressing on the side, and just use a little bit of the dressing. Order fish and chicken that are not prepared in a cream-based sauce. Forgo dessert, or offer to share a dessert with someone and just take a very small portion.

Even if you have setbacks, do not let that discourage you. Think about how far you have come along. If you have a friend whom you have recruited as your motivator, talk to him or her. Do not allow yourself to be discouraged because that can tempt you to stop altogether. Just look forward toward your goal, and push on.

Every little step toward your goal is one step closer to the prize. Remind yourself that this is not a quick process. Fast diets do not produce long-lasting results. You want results that will last you a life-time. So, be patient.

Losing weight effectively is straight-forward. All it takes is commitment on your part to be consistent in sticking to your plan. It takes time to change your life's habits, but when you are accustomed to your modified lifestyle, staying at your ideal weight will be easy.
