Tiny Lifestyle Changes for Big Weight Loss Results

from: DietFitnessCenter.com

A lot of people are inclined to think that you must run 10 miles a day or eat only salads in order to lose weight. This isn't true at all. You can get there by making very small changes in your everyday life. As long as you're willing to put in the work and make the changes, you can begin to lose weight.

First, let's start with the recommended portion size. Do you even know what it is? It will be different for everyone depending on what you eat, as different food items have a different calorie count. But the ideal portion size for an overweight person is about 400 calories. That could be a large portion, or it could be small. The idea is to slowly cut back on what you're eating until you can hit that number.

This one seems like a no-brainer, but many people carry the same attitude about this: "Hey, it's only a few stairs, so I might as well take the elevator!" Little do they realize that such a small change can have such a big result.

If you enjoy butter, switch to a substitute. If you like sweet tea, try it with Splenda instead of sugar. If you like peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, cut out the jelly and just eat peanut butter on wheat. There are countless ways to make substitutes without losing the flavor and without having to sacrifice what you enjoy eating.

This is something so incredibly easy to do that it shouldn't even need to be a tip. But, of course, most people neglect to simply read the nutritional information to find out what they're putting in their bodies. The tiny change of becoming an informed eater will pay off in a huge way over the course of your entire life.

Some people can operate on 4 or 5 hours of sleep every night and not feel tired, so they obviously wouldn't view sleeping habits as something that needs changing. However, your body needs a solid 7 or 8 hours rest to operate at optimum capacity. Make this small change if you want your body to burn off those calories.

When you eat slower, you will experience a few benefits. First up, you will actually enjoy what you're eating. You will experience the flavor, the texture, the feel of eating a good meal. You won't simply be shoving it down your throat. You'll also give your body time to signal that it's full. This is how you avoid overeating.

If you want to stick to a calorie-specific diet, you cannot guess what you're eating. You have to know definitively just how many calories you're ingesting. Never round off to the nearest hundred. Never assume that similar foods have similar calorie counts. Invest in a calculator and count your calories.

If you can follow these few simple steps to making small lifestyle changes, you will eventually incorporate these changes until they become second nature. When this happens, not only will you lose your desired amount of weight, but you will keep it off permanently.
